Big Thief debut new songs in great live video; Buck Meek shares new song too

Big Thief are currently touring Europe, and they’ve been playing a bunch of new songs while on tour (without guitarist Buck Meek, who is touring on his own). The band played two new tracks at their show at Paris’ Point Ephémère on Wednesday (3/28), which was documented by French broadcasting company ARTE. The first track is titled “Not,” and it’s a more upbeat song than you might usually expect from Big Thief. The song subtly evolves over the course of its runtime, before ending in a piercing, heavily forlorn guitar solo. The following track, “Terminal Paradise,” showcases the softer, subdued beauty that Big Thief consistently excels at. Max Oleartchik’s superb bass tone permeates throughout both tracks, and Adrianne Lenker’s vocals remain just as stunning.

The band has also recently performed other new tracks live, including “Shoulders,” “Abyss Kiss,” and “The Toy.” You can hear all those, and the two tracks discussed previously, below.

Big Thief will be playing several festivals later this year, including The National‘s Homecoming Festival (who they’re also touring with), Coachella (with a sideshow too), Boston Calling, Sasquatch, Pitchfork Music Festival, and UK fest End of the Road. All dates are listed below. Adrianne Lenker also recently wrapped up a solo tour.

Meanwhile, speaking of Buck Meek, he recently shared “Ruby” off his upcoming self-titled solo album (due 5/18 via Keeled Scales). He also recently announced a tour with Sam Evian.
