Brooklyn’s Big Thief released their debut album Masterpiece today via Saddle Creek. On it, frontwoman Adrianne Lenker opens up about dealing with both failed relationships and death, reflecting on personal growth throughout her experiences. The beauty in Masterpiece is in the detailed lyrics and her solemn voice. “Real Love” and “Masterpiece” explore the process of letting go while coping with loss. On “Paul,” she she revisits old memories of a past love and ultimate chooses to move on: “I’ll push you from my brain/See, you’re a gentle baby/I couldn’t stay, I’d only bring you pain.” Stream the whole thing below.

As mentioned, Big Thief are touring in support of the LP. Their current schedule includes three shows in their hometown of NYC. They have a record release show at Mercury Lounge on June 5 with Sam Evian, Twain, Tiny Hazard (tickets); a free BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival show opening for Alvvays and Ducktails at Prospect Park on June 23; and they’ll also open Lucius’ Central Park Summerstage show on September 23 (tickets). All dates are listed below.
