Bill Callahan played White Eagle Hall w/ Chris Gantry (pics, setlist)

Bill Callahan is on tour now in support of his first album in six years — the 20-song double album Shepherd In A Sheepskin Vest — and hit Brooklyn and Jersey City last week. Backed by a stellar band, he played a little less than half the new album (which still made up most of the set), plus a couple Smog songs and more. Check out the setlist below.

Opening both the NYC-area shows was outlaw country cult artist and Nashville lifer Chris Gantry whose new album, Nashlantis, is out July 26 via Drag City. You can check out “Box of Crayons,” which features Callahan, below.

Bill Callahan’s tour rolls on and he’ll be back in August to play Webster Hall.
