American Football at Wrecking Ball 2016 - Sunday
Nate Kinsella with American Football at Wrecking Ball (more by Amanda Hatfield)

Birthmark opening for Owen on tour (which starts tonight)

Birthmark is the project of Nate Kinsella, cousin of Tim and Mike, and current bandmate of Mike’s in American Football. That band has upcoming shows, including a huge NYC show at Terminal 5 in January, but first Birthmark will open for Mike Kinsella’s solo project, Owen, on the leg of his tour that begins in Somerville, MA tonight (9/15).

The tour lands in NYC on Friday (9/16) at Rough Trade, and tickets for that show are still available. Updated dates are listed below.

Owen is supporting his excellent recently-released album The King of Whys, while Birthmark’s latest is his 2015 LP How You Look When You’re Falling Down. Earlier today, Polyvinyl announced it would celebrate its 20th anniversary with a covers compilation that has Owen covering “Ears Ring” by Rainer Maria, who cover “Big Man” by Birthmark. American Football’s “Never Meant” will also be covered on that comp by The Dodos. Listen to Owen’s “Ears Ring” cover here:
