BJ the Chicago Kid touring around Pitchfork Fest, singing on Marvin Gaye 'What's Going On' anniversary release
R&B/soul singer BJ the Chicago Kid released his Motown debut In My Mind earlier this year (not to mention he contributed to Chance the Rapper and Anderson .Paak‘s great new albums), and this summer he’s set to tour again. He’s doing a US and Canada run in July/August with Elhae surrounding his appearance at Pitchfork Festival.
BJ will be in NYC on July 20 at Highline Ballroom. Tickets for that show are on sale now. All dates are listed, with BJ’s recently-released video for “Woman’s World” off his new album, below.
In related news, BJ is contributing to the What’s Going On 10-inch vinyl EP, a 45th anniversary celebration of the classic Marvin Gaye album which comes out on June 24. One side features the original 7-inch mono single versions of the title track and “God Is Love,” and the other side includes two “Motown: Re-Imagined” versions of the title track. One features a posthumous duet between Marvin and BJ, and the other will be an unplugged “Coffeehouse Mix.”
