BK Hip Hop Fest 2017 lineup (DMX, The LOX, Stretch & Bobbito, OSHUN, more)
As always, it ends with a big finale concert on the last day, and this year’s will be headlined by DMX and The LOX, who both just played the Ruff Ryders reunion over the weekend (though DMX’s set did not get great reviews). The finale concert also includes legendary hip hop DJs Stretch & Bobbito, who are bringing back their radio show (to NPR) and have some other live events coming up too. Plus, there’s the great NYC neo-soul newcomers OSHUN, veteran DJ and Ready to Die executive producer Mister Cee, and underground rap DJ Rob Swift.
The legendary and highly influential Rakim will be on hand for a ‘Told It First Hand’ talk on July 11, which will be “a once in a lifetime opportunity to listen, learn and build with arguably the greatest Hip-Hop MC of all time.”
UPDATE: Rakim will play the closing concert also. Updated poster below.
On July 15, there’s the Juice Hip-Hop Exhibition with artists on J Cole’s Dreamville Records. Cole will be on tour then, but the event will feature Dreamville artists Bas, Cozz and Omen. The Juice Hip-Hop Exhibition also has Earthgang, Lenny S, Sickamore, DJ Midnite, Kerim the DJ, and Brooklyn’s Finest Gallery cureated by The Bishop Gallery.
Members of The LOX, who released their first album in 16 years last year, have been busy with other stuff too. Styles P just released a collaborative EP with Talib Kweli, and Jadakiss has a free SummerStage show coming up in the Bronx’s Crotona Park on August 6.
