Black Mare releasing 'Death Magick Mother' (stream "Femme Couverte")

Sera Timms of Ides of Gemini, the now-defunct Black Math Horseman, and a supergroup with the singer of Kyuss and the guitarist of The Doors called ZUN (yes really) also has a solo project called Black Mare. Sera is releasing Black Mare’s sophomore album, Death Magick Mother, on September 15 via Magic Bullet (pre-order), and we’re premiering its lead single “Femme Couverte.” It’s similarly gothy and ethereal to Sera’s work with Ides of Gemini and Black Math Horseman, and here’s what she tells us about it:

This song was written through the eyes of the Femme Couverte, which means veiled woman. She is an archetype which dwells inside all of humanity but is not easy to digest because she carries death as well as creation. She is the keeper of the black void of all potentiality and transcends duality. While she values life and wants to see her children experience love and harmony, she mourns not for death, as it’s simply a return from the prismatic human experience back into the Mother cave which holds the unified diamond mind of totality.
