blink-182, Linkin Park & Wu-Tang Clan playing Citi Field together

Today in things you just can’t make up, blink-182, Linkin Park and Wu-Tang Clan are joining forces for a show at NYC’s Citi Field on July 28. The show is called ‘Welcome to Blinkin Park,’ and Machine Gun Kelly is on the bill too. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 12 at 10 AM, with a presale beginning May 9.

If this seems weird at first, consider that Linkin Park did a collaborative album with Jay Z at the height of Jay’s career, and blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has collaborated with tons of rappers, including Wu-Tang members RZA and Raekwon. Linkin Park are still looking to associate with cool rappers — Pusha T and Stormzy are on their new single (video below). blink and Linkin Park dominated rock radio and MTV at the same time, and probably share tons of fans. They both also likely served as gateway bands to more abrasive music in their respective genres (punk and metal). Of all these big superstar-lineup summer shows, this one sounds kinda fun.

There’s also a ‘Welcome to Blinkin Park’ show (without Wu-Tang) on July 30 at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania.

Wu-Tang Clan also play NYC’s Governors Ball in June. blink-182 are on tour now with Wavves, and have several other upcoming dates, including Lollapalooza and Vegas’ Life Is Beautiful festival (with Gorillaz). All blink-182 tour dates here.

The Blinkin Park shows were announced with a Funny or Die video, where a guy brings blink-182 on his first date with a girl, who brings Linkin Park. Watch:
