Blitzen Trapper

Blitzen Trapper announce new album & tour, share "Rebel"

Folk rockers Blitzen Trapper debuted a theatrical stage show in their hometown of Portland, OR earlier this year called Wild and Reckless. It included new original songs written just for that show, and the soundtrack got a very limited vinyl release (just 500 copies pressed). Some of the songs from that show have now ended up on a new studio album, also titled Wild and Reckless, which was inspired by the theatrical production but differs from that show’s soundtrack. Here’s what the band says:

Album number nine. Inspired by our theatrical production of the same name, the new studio record Wild and Reckless is both straight-up rock ‘n roll and deconstructed weirdness. Riffs, grooves, three-part harmonies and guitar solos. Darkness, a voice and a piano. Songs of dancing with your main squeeze, losing that main squeeze, then living like there’s nothing left to lose.

The first 250 pre-orders get limited pink vinyl – or a CD that is not pink. You can also choose to get it autographed by the band. The vinyl also includes a free download if you’re into that.

Recorded, mastered and pressed in Portland, Oregon.

The album includes “Stolen Hearts,” which came out as a single earlier this year, and the just-released single “Rebel.” Listen to both and watch a clip of the Wild and Reckless stage show, alongside the album tracklist, below. That’s the artwork above.

The album drops on November 3, and Blitzen Trapper will be on tour around then as well. The tour includes a Brooklyn show on November 9 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tickets for that show are on AmEx presale now and the public on-sale begins Friday (9/8) at noon. All dates are listed below.
