Blondie share new song "Fun," detail LP ft. Blood Orange, Laurie Anderson, more
Just hours after Future Islands released a new song featuring Debbie Harry, Blondie released their own new song, “Fun,” a collaboration with TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek. It’s a funky, danceable song that takes you back to Blondie’s disco days and it really is fun. That was very much intentional — “We’re very serious about fun,” Debbie Harry said. Guitarist Chris stein also said in a statement, “Quoting Emma Goldman, ‘If I can’t dance I don’t want to be part of your revolution.’ In these trying times we need some fun.” Listen below.
The song will appear on Blondie’s 11th album, which is called Pollinator and due out on May 5 via BMG. As revealed last year, the album was produced by John Congleton, and it features contributions from Johnny Marr, Sia and Charli XCX. It’s now been revealed that the album also features Blood Orange, Laurie Anderson, Joan Jett and Nick Valensi of The Strokes. John Roberts (Bob’s Burgers) and The Gregory Brothers (Songify the News) contribute to the album as well.
It was initially reported that the album would feature St. Vincent, Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes, and possibly Kanye West and Ludacris, though it appears they didn’t make the final cut.
Blondie have an upcoming Australian tour with Cyndi Lauper, and Dublin and London shows with Phil Collins. No US shows are announced yet. All dates are listed, with the album tracklist and new song stream, below.
