Bob Dylan began 7-show Beacon Theatre run, drank whiskey with Fallon

Tonight Dylan shares some memories with us, in his own way – the memories floods his soul. Like when he makes us listen to a renewed and melancholic “Like A Rolling Stone”, in a version where he stops and starts, amplifies the final words of each verse, making the existential strength of the refrain even stronger, one of the highlights of the night. Another highlight, maybe THE highlight of the evening, is his almost solo piano version of the now hymnlike version of “Don´t Think Twice, It´s All Right”. Each verse gets ovations, his voice is strong, he paints each line like it´s a masterpiece, and he roars the ending words as powerful as ever. (Johnny Borgan)

Bob Dylan began his seven-show run at Beacon Theatre on Friday (11/23) night – two more shows than the five nights he spent at the venue right around this time in 2017, with Mavis Staples opening. There’s no opener for Dylan’s 2018 residency, just two hours with plenty of his classic songs. See Friday night’s setlist, and a few pictures from the show, below.

Before beginning his Beacon performances, Dylan made a rare television appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday (11/22). He and Jimmy drink whiskey (Dylan’s signature line, Heaven’s Door) while watching the Big Apple Circus in the dreamlike sequence, which you can watch below.

Dylan’s Beacon Theatre run continues on Saturday (11/24), Monday (11/26), Tuesday (11/27), Thursday (11/29), Friday (11/30), and next Saturday (12/1). Tickets for a couple of the dates are still available.
