Husker Du/Sugar’s Bob Mould will release his next solo album Patch the Sky on March 25 via Merge (pre-order). He’s been on a hot streak lately with Beauty & Ruin and Silver Age, and like those two albums, the new one has him backed by Jason Narducy on bass and Jon Wurster on drums. First single “Voices In My Head” is on the slower side compared to the rippers he’d been filling his last two albums with, but it still sounds like classic Mould and it’s pretty great. Check out the Alicia J. Rose-directed video for it and the album artwork below.

Bob also announced a lengthy tour of the UK, the US and Canada, which hits NYC on April 29 at Webster Hall. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (1/15) at 10 AM. All dates are listed below.

In less happy news, Bob Mould’s recent interview with Stereogum suggests the Husker Du reunion rumors will not prove to be true:

…Mould knowingly laughs as soon as I bring it up. “You know … Grant and I have talked. We’re fine,” he says. “Will we work together? No. I like to run my own ship and I think he likes to run his own ship, and that’s great.” What the band members interacting with one another really amounts to for now and the foreseeable future is that they’re working towards “reviving the logo and the brand,” for that new merchandise and maybe future projects like reissues. On Mould’s end, he’s too happy with where he is, and he has a specific way he looks back on that time. “I got my life over here, man. I never want to take advantage of the fact that I was in that band,” he says. “Nor do I ever want to get in the way of its legacy.” Otherwise, his answer’s straightforward: “Nah, no reunion.”

Oh well. Tour dates, video and album artwork below…
