While Bob Weir has been busy with Dead and Company lately, the Grateful Dead member has just announced a new album and tour that may be more interesting to indie rock fans (and people who don’t like John Mayer).

Bobby will release his first solo album in over a decade, Blue Mountain, which he recorded with The National members Aaron & Bryce Dessner and Scott Devendorf, as well as Josh Kaufman, who helped members of The National create their five-hour Grateful Dead tribute that came out earlier this year. It also includes contributions from Josh Ritter, and more…

A host of fellow musicians appear alongside Weir on Blue Mountain including Ray Rizzo (drums, harmonium, harmonica, backup vocals), Joe Russo (drums), Jon Shaw (upright bass, piano), Rob Burger (keyboard, accordion, tuned percussion), Sam Cohen (electric guitar and pedal steel), Nate Martinez (guitars, harmonium, backup vocals), Jay Lane (drums, vocals), Robin Sylvester (upright bass, vocals, hammond organ) and Steve Kimock (Lapsteel). Providing backup vocals are The Bandana Splits, comprised of Annie Nero, Lauren Balthrop and Dawn Landes.

It’ll be out on September 30 (pre-order). Tracklist below.

They’ll also be touring in support of it, with the lineup of Bob Weir, Aaron Dessner, Bryan Devendorf, Scott Devendorf, and Josh Kaufman. The tour includes three shows in the NYC-area. Two are at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre on October 14 & 15, and one is in Port Chester on October 16 at the Capitol Theatre, where fellow Dead member Phil Lesh often plays. Presale tickets for the whole tour go on sale Tuesday, August 9 at 10 AM local time. All dates are listed below.

Weir was also added to the Last Waltz 40th anniversary show happening this Saturday (8/6) as part of Lincoln Center Out of Doors with Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin and more.

Speaking of Phil, he has two Coney Island shows coming up. Dead associate Warren Haynes also has a tour celebrating Jerry Garcia that hits Central Park this month.
