Brainstory prep LP for Big Crown, touring with Chicano Batman (stream a track)
One of Big Crown Records‘ newest signings, Rialto, CA trio Brainstory (made up of brothers Kevin & Tony Martin, plus drummer Eric Hagstrom), are releasing their debut album on the label in the near future but first they’re putting out a 7″ single for the songs “Dead End” and “Mnemophobia.” The whole album was produced by Big Crown co-founder Leon Michels, and as you’d probably expect from a Michels-produced Big Crown release, it brings you right back to classic ’60s/’70s soul but sounds fresh today too. They’ve got a slight psychedelic touch, and Kevin’s smooth-as-molasses croon is perfect for this kind of thing. We’re premiering the song “Dead End,” which Kevin says is “kind of like confronting death, but through relationships and coming to terms with who you are in the mirror of another person.” Listen below.
The band also has upcoming West Coast dates, including a release show in LA and some dates opening for Chicano Batman. All dates are listed on the tour poster below.
