Brand New launch pre-orders for LP5 (due in October), announce tour

Brand New have been delaying their fifth album for a while (it’ll be their first since 2009’s Daisy), but they now say it will be out in October! You can pre-order the vinyl at their label Procrastinate! Music Traitors’ website, and they say the pre-order is “very limited.”

The band also announced a tour “with special guests,” including a show at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre on October 19. Tickets for all dates are on presale now. Tickets for the Brooklyn show go on sale to the general public Friday (8/18) at noon.

Brand New also headline San Bernardino, CA’s High & Low festival in September (with Death Cab, Tegan & Sara, Kevin Devine, Cloud Nothings, and more), and they play New Orleans’ Voodoo fest in October. They also have a post-High & Low show in San Francisco with (Sandy) Alex G. All dates are listed below.

Brand New first said their fifth album would be out in 2016, but later posted a statement saying they didn’t feel it was “complete enough, refined enough, or edited thoroughly enough to be something we would call finished or essential.” This is the first time they’ve actually launched a pre-order for it though, so hopefully that means it’s really coming this time. In the time since the band’s 2009 album, they released three new songs (“I Am A Nightmare,” “Mene,” and “Out of Range”), they gave an official release to their leaked 2006 demos, and they reworked three songs from those demos for a 2016 EP.
