Breakdown playing Tompkins Square police riot anniversary, & 2 shows w/ Bold

Every year, a daytime punk show is held in Tompkins Square Park in August to commemorate the anniversary of the August 6, 1988 Tompkins Square Park police riot. This year, they’re doing it for two days — Saturday, August 4 and Sunday, August 5 — and there’s also another two-day commemoration planned for September 8 & 9 (info TBA).

August 4 has NYHC vets Breakdown, reunited grindcore band Disassociate, Boston hardcore vets The F.U.’s, Iconicide, and Jennifer Blowdryer. August 5 has a “special guest band to be announced,” plus ’80s-era NJ noisecore band Psycho Sin, NYHC vets Urban Waste, Zero Content, and Dying Breed. Lineups are subject to change and stay tuned for the TBA band. More info here.

In related news, Breakdown’s “classic lineup” are playing two fall shows in the Northeast, and both are with fellow veteran NYHC band Bold, which is an awesome pairing. The shows happen at Philly’s First Unitarian Church on October 27 (tickets) and Brooklyn’s Brooklyn Bazaar on October 28 (tickets).

The F.U.’s also have a few other shows coming up in August, including 8/16 at The Kingsland in Brooklyn.
