Brian Wilson & The Zombies announce co-headlining full-albums tour

Beach Boys zombies

Two of the greatest and most influential psychedelic pop artists of all time, Brian Wilson and The Zombies, are teaming up for the “Something Great from ’68” tour this summer. The Zombies will be playing their classic 1968 album Odessey and Oracle in full, along with songs from the rest of their career, and Brian will be focusing on The Beach Boys’ 1968 album Friends and their 1971 album Surf’s Up. He’s done Smile and Pet Sounds in the past, but seeing him focus on these two less popular but still great albums should be a real treat.

Darian Sahanaja, who worked on the 2004 release of Smile and played with The Zombies on past tours, will be performing as a member of both acts. He said, “Any fan of Pet Sounds should immediately identify with Odessey and Oracle. Rich harmonic tapestries, baroque impressions with an underlying melancholy… classicism with an emotional yearning that I find common in both Brian’s songwriting and that of The Zombies. To be able to perform with both entities on the same bill is a dream within a dream within a ‘hung up’ dream come true.”

The tour begins in Las Vegas and ends at NYC’s Beacon Theatre on September 26. Tickets for that are on Citi cardmember presale now and go on sale to the general public on Friday, May 10 at noon.

Brian has other shows happening beforehand, including a Pet Sounds show in Red Bank, NJ on 6/11 and a greatest hits show in Atlantic City on 6/14. The Zombies also have other dates, including Ocean City, NJ on 8/19.

Surf’s Up came in at #6 and Friends came in at #4 on our list of Beach Boys Albums Ranked Worst To Best.
