Brit Floyd – Immersion 2017

Brit Floyd touring, playing Radio City Music Hall (dates ++ win tix)

In 2016, prodigious Pink Floyd covers act Brit Floyd delivered their ambitious Space and Time CONTINUUM North American tour to a whopping 76-dates and astounded audiences with an aural and visual experience that could only be rivaled by Pink Floyd themselves. I caught their Beacon Theatre gig last year and sat there unblinking with my mouth agape, drool cascading, completely transfixed at how flawlessly literally every level of the production was fulfilled. No expense was spared in addressing every important attention to detail that meant the difference between a decent show and an astounding experience. And it didn’t hurt that the spectacle took place in one of NYCs most beautiful venues. This is not just a tribute act; it is a big budget endeavor to recreate the sights and sounds of 50+ years of Pink Floyd as faithfully as possible. Whether they are ripping into psychedelic classics like “See Emily Play, early long-form epics like “Echoes” or more contemporary stuff like 1987’s “On the Turning Away” or 1994’s “Keep Talking”, Brit Floyd have the technical arsenal to articulate the exact sound of whatever era of Pink Floyd they tackle. Their rendition of “The Great Gig in the Sky” gave me goosebumps so big and sharp that if I fell over I would have stuck to the floor. And when you add to the experience and amazing light show and video accompaniment (which I swear contains films and videos used by Floyd themselves in previous tours), you get one of the best nights out you can imagine.

Brit Floyd are currently on tour across the pond, but come March they’ll be back on North American soil to continue their Immersion World Tour 2017 with 35 dates, including a stop at NYCs most famous venue Radio City Music Hall on April 10Tickets are currently on sale, or you can try to win a pair (details below). The centerpiece of last year’s tour was a brilliant rendition of Pink Floyd’s 24-minute 1971 masterpiece “Echoes”. This time around, Brit Floyd will be celebrating Pink Floyd’s 1977 album Animals (which celebrated its 40th anniversary on January 23, 2017) by unleashing their rendition of the 17-minute epic Dogs.” I cannot think of a more beautiful venue to see this band than Radio City Music Hall and even the most casual Pink Floyd fan should not pass up the opportunity to experience this. Full tour dates are below, as well as some youtube videos to whet your appetite.
