Brittany Howard added to Afropunk Brooklyn, shares new live session video

Afropunk Brooklyn is this weekend in Commodore Barry Park (8/24-8/25), and the festival just got a very big, last-minute addition: Alabama Shakes singer Brittany Howard. Brittany is gearing up to release her debut solo album Jaime on September 20 via ATO, and along with this announcement, Afropunk premiered an official live session video of Brittany performing “Stay High” from that album. Check it out below.

Brittany plays on Sunday (8/25) and she joins an already-stacked lineup that also includes Jill Scott, FKA Twigs, Kamasi Washington, Gary Clark, Jr., Santigold, Lianne La Havas, Danny Brown. Toro Y Moi, Death Grips, J.I.D, Leikeli47, Rico Nasty, Tierra Whack, and many others. Set times are in the Afropunk app; we outlined some of the tough conflicts here.

Tickets are still available, and there are also Afropunk After Dark shows. Also this weekend, the second Brooklyn installment of the live conversation Afropunk Solution Sessions returns to Roulette on Friday and Saturday. Tickets and more info here.

Brittany also has a headlining tour coming up, including a NYC show on September 24 at Beacon Theatre (tickets). All dates are listed below.
