Broken Social Scene release new song, playing 'Colbert' with Stars/Metric members tonight

We already knew that not only are we finally getting a new Broken Social Scene album this year — the band’s first since 2010’s Forgiveness Rock Record — but that their old pal/collaborator Feist (who’s releasing her first album since 2011 this year) will be appearing on it. BSS co-founder Kevin Drew has said he’s eyeing a 2017 summer release, and today (3/30) we’ll finally get our first taste of it. Kevin will be on on SiriusXMU with Jenny Eliscu at 3 PM EST for the world premiere of a new song.

Tune in to SiriusXMU at 3 to hear the song, and stay tuned for the web premiere.

UPDATE: The song debuted and it’s called “Halfway Home.” It doesn’t appear to be online yet, but you can listen to the post-premiere interview with Kevin:

UPDATE 2: It’s still not officially out, but someone appears to have ripped it:

Broken Social scene will also perform on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight at 11:35 PM EST, joined by Emily Haines and James Shaw of Metric and Amy Millan and Evan Cranley of Stars. Will they be performing the new song?

UPDATE 3: It’s officially out and they performed it on Colbert.
