Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival 2018 underway (Black Star headlining the final concert)

The annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival is underway now, having kicked off on Monday (7/9). As always, it ends with the big finale concert, which this year will be headlined by legendary local duo Black Star (Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey, fka Mos Def), who have been teasing their first album in 20 years.

The finale concert happens Saturday (7/14) in Brooklyn Bridge Park (11 Water St), and in addition to Black Star, it features Pharoahe Monch with DJ Boogie Blind, Mister Cee, Skyzoo, LATASHA, Radamiz, Dyme-A-Duzin, and Milo Case. This year’s hosts are Uncle Ralph McDaniels and Torae.

Also still to come during this year’s BK Hip Hop Fest is the Juice Hip-Hop Exhibition with DJ showcases, dance battles, a sneaker exhibit, live art, and original art installations on Friday (7/13) at Littlfield; plus the “BHF At Night” parties at vinyl record craft beer bar Bier Wax (tonight has Easy Mo Bee and Thursday has DJ Rob Swift); and more.
