Brooklyn Mirage set to open on July 1

In April, concert promoters Cityfox were granted a license to permanently open the Avant Gardner complex. Now there’s officially a date set for the opening night of Brooklyn Mirage, the outdoor portion: July 1. Here are some more details:

Avant Gardner announces its summer opening in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn as a multi-room and multi-purpose venue for public and private events. The complex is built on a full city block at 140 Stewart Ave — on Meserole St between Stewart Ave and Gardner Ave, which lends its namesake — and is comprised of three distinct areas. The Brooklyn Mirage is outdoors and operates during summer months, while two indoor areas, The Great Hall and The Kings Hall, are indoors and operates year-round. The Brooklyn Mirage opens on July 1st, and The Great Hall and The Kings Hall will open later this year.

The summer 2017 schedule of events will be released soon.

Brooklyn Mirage is a 12,000 sq. ft. courtyard with “a garden lounge, over two dozen palm trees, and thousands of native plants to create ‘living walls.'” According to a press release, attendees are only “reminded that they are still in Gotham” by “exploring a two-story catwalk” or “ascending a four-story observation tower,” where you’ll get views of Brooklyn and Manhattan. That’s a rendering of Brooklyn Mirage above.

The Great Hall is a 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse with 40 ft. ceilings that will maintain an “industrial exposed brick and steel beam aesthetic,” but also have hardwood floors, ceilings and wood finishes.

The Kings Hall is a smaller room with “hand-carved wooden finishes and flooring […] inspired by vintage recording studios.”

Brooklyn Mirage first opened in 2015 but quickly ran into trouble. Before being granted their new license, Cityfox’s Billy Bildstein apologized for the venue’s initial mistakes.
