Brooklyn Rider, Anne Sofie von Otter performing new arrangements of Bjork, Elvis Costello, Kate Bush, more

Modern classical string quartet Brooklyn Rider are touring with veteran classical singer Anne Sofie von Otter (who BV readers may know from her 2011 album with Elvis Costello called For the Stars). This follows their recent collaborative album called So Many Things, which features modern classical arrangements of pop songs by the likes of Bjork, Sting, Kate Bush and Elvis Costello, among others. Those arrangements are by a who’s who of modern composers like Nico Muhly, Erik Arvinder, Vince Mendoza, Evan Ziporyn, Rob Mathes and Kyle Sanna.

That tour, which hits DC and NC this weekn, includes a show in NYC that should appeal to fans of classical and pop music alike. It goes down on October 13 at Carnegie Hall, and finds the artists performing a program mixed between material by modern classical composers like Philip Glass, Caroline Shaw and Colin Jacobsen, and some of those new arrangements of Bjork, Kate Bush, and Elvis Costello. The show also features a pre-show talk by Anne and members of Brooklyn Rider and tickets are available.
