Bruce Springsteen has been touring all year and the Jersey boy kicked off his current leg in his home state last night (8/23). It was his first of three shows at MetLife Stadium this month, and unlike his previous shows in the NY/NJ area this year, he’s no longer playing The River in full. He did play a handful of songs off that album in his 35-song, four-hour set, but mostly offered up a good mix of classics. The night began with the super rare, “New York City Serenade,” complete with a full string section. Other favorites included “Badlands,” “Jungleland,” “Dancing in the Dark,” “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight),” Patti Smith’s “Because the Night” (which he wrote), and plenty of others. He ended night with a cover of Tom Waits’ “Jersey Girl,” which was a sign request from a fan.

The Boss’ tour returns to MetLife Stadium on Thursday (8/25) and the following Tuesday (8/30). Tickets for both are still available (though “not many left” for Thursday’s show).
