Bruce Springsteen played the "His Hometown" NJ exhibit opening (watch)
“Bruce Springsteen: His Hometown,” the exhibit in The Boss’ actual hometown of Freehold, NJ featuring memorabilia from his earliest days, opened on Sunday (9/29). The night before was a preview party featuring Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers and Bobby Bandiera, and Bruce himself showed up and joined Grushecky to perform 1988’s “Light of Day.” You can watch video of that below.
The “His Hometown” exhibit features over 150 items, including an original poster from The Castiles, Bruce Springsteen’s first band who were based out of Freehold, a scrapbook put together by Springteen’s mother, Adele Springsteen (as well as her high school yearbook); a civil war document that includes mention of Alexander Springsteen (who is of lineal descent to Bruce), and more.
