Bruce Springsteen returned to MSG, danced with his 90 year old mom, but not Eddie Vedder (pics, video, setlist)
That [original River[ tour established Springsteen and the E Street Band as top-tier rockers, a unit finally grown into its reputation and a band more than capable of going toe-to-toe with any other outfit in the game. Reviews of the current River tour suggest Springsteen is eagerly trying to recapture a bit of the old magic, with shows stretching well into the three-and-a-half hour range, no small feat given the median age of the band members is north of 60. Bruce was supposed to play two shows at the Garden back in January, but Jonas got in the way and he only played the one on 1/27 (check out pics). The rescheduled date happened tonight, 3/28, and again included The Boss playing through The River, along with a lot more music (around 3.5 hours total).
A highlight of the NYC show was Bruce’s mom Adele dancing to and with her son, as you can see in one of the videos and some of the pictures below. The MSG setlist, and video from the recent show in Seattle where Eddie Vedder joined them, are also below.
Maybe Bruce will return the favor when Pearl Jam hit Madison Square Garden as part of their upcoming tour in May.
The E Street Band returns to NYC for shows at Barclays Center on April 23 and 25.
