Cadaver

Cadaver reunite, release first song in 15 years (ft. Possessed's Jeff Becerra)

Norwegian death metal vets Cadaver were initially around from 1988 to 1993, they briefly reformed in the late ’90s/early ’00s, and now co-founder Anders Odden (who has spent the last decade playing bass in Satyricon) has reformed the band with Dirk Verbeuren (who’s also currently in Megadeth and Tronos) on drums. They’ve kicked off the reunion with the release of their first new song in 15 years, “Circle of Morbidity,” which features guest vocals by Jeff Becerra, frontman of pioneering death metal band Possessed (whose first album in 33 years is due this May). Anders said in a statement:

In my heart I have always had the notion that Cadaver exists somehow. Dirk played session live work for Satyricon on the 70,000 Tons Of Metal cruise in 2014 and we got to know each other then. He talked about how much he loved Cadaver and I then told him that I had been recording demos for 10 years without a drummer….so, being the guy he is, he then says, ‘Send the songs to me!

And on working with Jeff Becerra, he said:

When I heard Possessed for the first time in 1985, I knew this was my kind of music. To have the original creator of death metal on our comeback single is huge for me, I am beyond thrilled to show everybody what we have been cooking up this time around.

Becerra added:

It was a great honor being asked by Anders to sing backup vocals on ‘Circle of Morbidity’. Of course, working with Anders Odden & Dirk Verbeuren is like a fantastic nightmare, brutal and heavy as hell. Congratulations to Anders Odden/Cadaver on this brand new single. Amazing song, thank you!

The current incarnation of Cadaver is planning to release a new album, titled Edder & Bile, and they say they’re currently talking to labels about it. Stay tuned for more info on that, and hopefully on tour dates too.
