Candi Staton is 'Unstoppable' on new LP (listen), touring
Soul / R&B / disco great Candi Staton will release her new album, Unstoppable, this Friday (8/24) via Beracah/Thirty Tigers. Lambchop’s Mark Nevers produced the album and it finds her confident, in great voice, and taking on social issues. “We’re living at a time right now where it’s important that music has a lot of influence,” Candi told NPR. “We’re living in these days that we don’t know what tomorrow’s gonna bring. We have to get out, and we have to make a difference. People do have the power. We can change things with our votes. If you don’t like what’s going on, don’t stay home.” You can listen to the whole album over at NPR and stream a few songs below.
Candi has a few tour dates lined up for late summer and the fall, including NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on September 7. Tickets for that show are on sale now. Other dates include shows in Atlanta, Berkeley, CA and Nashville. All dates are listed below.
