Patrick O'Brien Cannibal Corpse

Cannibal Corpse guitarist arrested for "burglary" and assault, as his own house was on fire

Cannibal Corpse guitarist Patrick O’Brien has been arrested for breaking into a home in Northdale, Florida and running towards a deputy with a knife, ABC Action News reports.

According to the article, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was responding to a fire at O’Brien’s home on Norwood Drive, and officials said there were military-style flamethrowers and ammunition inside O’Brien’s home, making it a much more dangerous fire to put out.

His home is less than half a mile away from the house he reportedly broke into. Via ABC:

Patrick O’Brien, 53, reportedly forced himself into a home on Windflower Circle in the Northdale neighborhood at approximately 6:57 p.m. on Monday. There were two people in the house at the time. One of the victims told O’Brien to get out of the house immediately, at which point O’Brien pushed the other victim to the ground and ran into the backyard of the home. Deputies responded and O’Brien reportedly did not obey their commands and ran toward a deputy with a knife in his right hand. The deputy took O’Brien down by using an electronic control device on him and arrested him at the scene.

O’Brien was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and burglary of an occupied dwelling with assault or battery. He has not been charged in the house fire at this time.

The story as it’s being reported, is a bit confusing, but we’re sure more details will surface that connects it all.

UPDATE: O’Brien appeared before a judge at a Hillsborough County, FL court today, where his bail was set at $50,000, WFLA reports. He is also required to take a drug test before he can post bail.

Yesterday, Cannibal Corpse were announced to open the newly-added North American leg of Slayer’s “final” tour. The band is also scheduled to headline the 2019 Decibel Magazine tour, which also features Morbid Angel, Necrot, and Blood Incantation.
