Prolific indie rock up-and-comer Car Seat Headrest is following last year’s Teens of Style with Teens of Denial on May 20 via Matador. (Pre-orders are up and first 100 copies of the LP are signed.) He just put out a new single, “Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales,” which is a great example of main member Will Toledo’s ability to mix crunchy alt-rock with a bit of Strokes-iness. In Will’s words the song is: “Post-party melancholia. Wishing to either be a better person or care less about the whole deal. Going home alone, in poor condition. The ‘killer whales’ bit is inspired by Blackfish, which is a depressing film.” Check out the lyric video for the song and the album artwork and tracklist below.

Car Seat Headrest were just down in Austin for SXSW, where one of their shows was the Saturday BrooklynVegan party (pictures). They also played the Under the Radar showcase at the beautiful Central Presbyterian Church. We already posted pictures of Julien Baker and Eleanor Friedberger from that show, and we’ve got a set of CSH in this post. More below.
