Caribou announce new album 'Suddenly' (listen to "You and I")

Dan Snaith released “Home,” his first single as Caribou in five years, back in October and now he’s announced a new album, Suddenly, which will be out February 28 via Merge. “I record music every day, and I love it – as much or more than I have always done. I feel very lucky – the thrill has never, ever left me,” says Dan who also says the album came from nearly a thousand draft ideas and sketches.

With the album announcement comes a new single. “‘You and I’ was one of the first tracks on the album that I started, and one of the last tracks I finished; it existed in some form or other throughout the whole arc of making the record,” Dan says. “It also captures a lot of what the record, and the title of the album, are about – the track changes suddenly and unpredictably, and it is about a change in my life that happened out of the blue.” It does indeed make a left turn two-thirds of the way through the track, shifting from a shimmering glow into something decidedly more woozy but just as technicolor. You can listen to “You and I” below.

Caribou will be on tour in 2020, including two nights at Brooklyn Steel (3/27 is sold out, but you can still get tickets for 3/28). Updated dates are listed below.
