Caribou shares “Never Come Back” from new LP; Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith opening on tour

Dan Snaith is releasing his first Caribou album in five years, Suddenly, on February 28 via Merge. Today, he’s shared the album’s upbeat third single. “‘Never Come Back’ was the first track from Suddenly that I finished. It came together very quickly and was one of those tracks that is a lot fun to make,” says Dan. “As soon as I landed on the main synthesizer chords and the repeated refrain the rest came together very quickly and naturally. I felt like it was my job to get out of the way and not over complicate or over think it. Sometimes the best pleasures are the simple ones.” It’s a great example of Dan’s knack for layering rhythms, and is the bounciest song we’ve heard from the record thus far. Stream it, along with previous singles “Home” and “You and I,” below.

Caribou will also be going on tour with Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith starting in March, including two NYC shows at Brooklyn Steel (3/27 is sold out, but tickets for 3/28 are still available).

UPDATE: Both Brooklyn Steel shows have sold out, but Caribou have added a third, a 3 PM matinee on 3/28. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, January 31 at 10 AM with an AmEx presale on Wednesday at noon.

He’s also set to appear at several festivals this year, including Coachella, Miami’s III Points, Montreal’s Osheaga, London’s All Points East, and Barcelona’s Primavera Sound, among others. All upcoming dates are listed below.
