Carrie Fisher, RIP; mother Debbie Reynolds dies one day later


Carrie Fisher has died at age 60. From People:

Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement to PEOPLE on behalf of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd:

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement.

“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly,” says Lourd. “Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Fisher, most famous for her role as Leia in the Star Wars films, had suffered a heart attack while flying from London to Los Angeles on Friday, Dec. 23 and was rushed to a hospital, where she later died. The daughter of Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher was also an acclaimed writer have penned many books including her semi-autobiographical novel Postcards from the Edge. She was also married to Paul Simon in the early ’80s.


UPDATE: Only one day later Fisher’s mother, actress and entertainer Debbie Reynolds, has died at age 84. From CNN:

Reynolds was taken to a Los Angeles hospital Wednesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Todd Fisher told CNN, “My mother passed away a short time ago. She spoke to me this morning and said she missed Carrie.”
Reynolds, 84, complained of breathing problems, an unidentified source told The Times.
“She’s with Carrie now,” Todd Fisher said.

Reynolds was one of the biggest Hollywood stars of the ’50s and ’60s, appearing in Singin’ in the Rain, Three Little Words, and later in life had a recurring role in NBC’s Will & Grace.

Carrie and Debbie you will both be dearly missed.
