The Casket Girls

The Graveface Roadshow got underway last week, a traveling group of bands united by the Savannah, GA label, a hazy aesthetic, and a few common bandmembers. That tour hit NYC earlier this week with two shows. Unlike Monday’s Shea show which featured a full evening of mostly Graveface action, Tuesday’s Mercury Lounge show (2/18) was just The Casket Girls and Stargazer Lilies. Pictures from Mercury Lounge are in this post

Label head Ryan Graveface (also of Black Moth Super Rainbow and Dreamend [who played the Shea show]) plays in The Casket Girls who are fronted by enigmatic sisters Phaedra and Elsa Greene. Costumes and choreography augmented the Girls’ many catchy songs. Openers Stargazer Lilies leaned a little more dreampop, with hazy textures recalling The Cocteau Twins.

The Graveface Roadshow encountered a setback before Mercury Lounge, as their tour van was totalled in an accident. No one was hurt, no dates will be canceled but if you’d like to help them out, all proceeds from any purchase made on any Bandcamp page run by Graveface Records will go directly to rental vehicle and repair costs.
