Cat Power just played The National’s two-day There’s No Leaving New York festival at Forest Hills Stadium on Sunday, and now that that’s behind her, she’s added shows to her fall tour with Willis Earl Beale: Philadelphia’s Union Transfer on December 15 and NYC’s Brooklyn Steel on December 18 with Willis Earl Beale. Tickets for those shows go on sale Friday, October 5 at 10 AM.

With her new album, Wanderer, out this week on Domino, Chan Marshall has made a new Spotify playlist titled “The Woman Playlist,” named after the lead single (and Lana Del Ray duet) from the album, which features songs by Nina Simone, Mary J Blige, Joni Mitchell, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and more. You can listen to that below.

Chan was also just interviewed in The Cut, where she talks about motherhood, mental health, the new LP and her move to Domino Records after years of being on Matador:

“They had said that I needed top producer, famous band. And I chose to become very stubborn and did everything myself,” she explains. “I did my very best, I worked so hard on it. I was so proud of it. I was so happy with everything I had created, and out of thin air.” Marshall still carries the sting from discovering, months after the fact, that upon hearing she was hospitalized they pulled all the marketing on Sun. “They weren’t betting on the horse to win.” She says she fundamentally misunderstood the transactional nature of her connection to the label as something close to kin, “Just because somebody told me I was their family, I didn’t need to believe them. It was business to them, and they knew it was business. But I didn’t.”

Updated tour dates are listed, along with “The Woman Playlist,” and a few songs from Wanderer, below.
