Long-running Seattle indie pop musician Eric Anderson released his sixth album as Cataldo, Keepers (which features guest vocals from Ben Gibbard), earlier this year. We’re now premiering the video for the very ’80s, synthpoppy “Little Heartbeat.” Here’s what Eric tells us about it:

This song touches on falling in love as a teenager and director Christopher Harrell and I worked really hard to evoke that feeling: when you’re old enough to have wheels, flirt, and stay out late but too young to leave town or go to a bar. Anyone who grew up in a town where nothing is open past 9pm has cruised around in their parents’ whip, hung out in parking lots doing nothing in particular, and generally goofed off deep into the night. To me Ruby and Fiona are so compelling in every frame and totally capture what it’s like to be head over heels in love but so young that you’re not exactly sure how to act on that feeling. I won’t ruin the ending for anyone but there’s a big, ebullient, payoff that looks the way being 16 and in love feels.
