Iconic NYC punk rock club CBGB is reopening…as a restaurant in Newark Liberty International Airport? It’s true. As reported by Gothamist, the holding company that owns the CBGB name has licensed it to a restaurant in the airport’s new Terminal C called CBGB LAB (that’s “Lounge and Bar”) that promises “American fare in a fun environment recalling the legendary music venue.”

Nothing recalls the formative years of punk like “seared togarashi tuna,” roasted beet salad, and a “crispy chicken paillard” sandwich. As WPRB DJ Jon Solomon notes, the only music-related item on the menu is Disco Fries. There is also “Harold’s World Famous Chili” which is probably not the same recipe as CBGB’s owner Hilly Kristal’s infamous “Hilly’s Chili.” Full menu is below.

Wonder what their bathrooms are like?

CBGB LAB is one of a bunch of new high-profile restaurants opening in Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminal C, including ones by restaurant bigwigs like Alain Ducasse, Alex Guarnaschelli, Paul Liebrandt and more.
