Ceschi

Ceschi teams with Yoni Wolf of WHY? for new song off new album trilogy (listen)

New Haven indie rapper Ceschi is releasing Sans Soleil, the second album in a planned trilogy, on August 4 via Fake Four Inc (pre-order). We’re premiering the song “Yoni’s Electrocardiographs,” which is a new version of “Electrocardiographs” from the first album in the trilogy (Sad, Fat Luck), and this version features Yoni Wolf of WHY?. It’s a very appealing dose of wordy, underground-minded hip hop, and Yoni is the perfect fit for this kind of thing. Ceschi says:

My album Sans Soleil is an ode or type of eulogy to youth, lost friends & the music & movements that formed who I am today. Yoni & anticon are a part of that formation- when i first met them in the earliest 2000s i was in my late teens & deeply inspired by seeing them build a lane for their kind of indescribable experimental Hip Hop.

On top of all of that – one of my great friends, Scotty Sixo, was a huge Why? Fan and before he passed away last year he commonly spoke to me about wishing that Yoni & him could collaborate some day.

In a way this is a present to him.

Yoni even sampled Sixo’s voice on part of this song.

And Yoni adds:

I’ve known Ceschi since the early oughts and he’s always been a one of a kind dude and a talented, intensely serious rapper who is also very funny. He’s a legend. Really enjoyed making this version of Electrocardiographs. Might be one of my favorite raps of his—Heartfelt, personal, organically political, and meandering in all the right ways. My goal in making the music was to showcase and enhance his words.
