Chad VanGaalen has announced his sixth album, the followup to 2014’s Shrink Dust. It’s called Light Information and it comes out September 8 via Sub Pop. The first single is “Old Heads,” which is right up the alley of Chad’s best songs, which is to say it’s sorta folky, throws in quirky electronics, and has Chad’s high, soaring vocals leading the way. As he usually does, Chad wrote, played, and produced almost everything on the album himself. The only outside contributions came in the form of Ryan Bourne’s bass part on “Mystery Elementals” and vocals on “Static Shape” from his young daughters Ezzy and Pip. Listen to “Old Heads” below.

Chad also announced a European tour for October and a North American tour for November / December. Some dates on the North American run are with NE-HI and others are with Un Blonde.

The run with Un Blonde includes a Brooklyn show on December 6 at Rough Trade. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (6/23) at 10 AM with an AmEx presale starting today (6/21) at noon. All dates are listed below.
