Chain Gang Experimental Music

Chain & the Gang have a new song/video, "Experimental Music," tour w/ Black Lips

Chain & the Gang, one of the many bands of Ian Svenonius (Nation of Ulysses, The Make-Up, Weird War), have a new video for an unreleased song “Experimental Music.” As you may guess, it’s an ode to experimental music (in his most Lou Reed voice, Ian sings “they don’t care about tune or melody, they care about… being free“), and the video switches between footage of Ian singing and clips of experimental music signifiers. It always goes back to a cloaked man with tape decks, pedals, a keyboard, lots of wires, duct tape, and more. The video premieres below.

The band are also about to embark on a tour with Black Lips. Here’s their “statement”:

Chain & the Gang, for their upcoming tour of the USA’s midwest region with The Black Lips, is announcing a bold foray into experimental music, as evidenced by their latest offering, the song “Experimental Music.”

The tour doesn’t include any NYC shows (it’s only in the Northeast for Pittsburgh and Buffalo stops) but Chain & the Gang play here on July 17 at Our Wicked Lady for Jonathan Toubin‘s ‘SOUL SCREAM SUNDAY.’ All dates are listed below.
