Chairlift celebrated the release of their third album, Moth, with a sold-out show at National Sawdust.  Things got off to a rocky start — their smoke machines set off the fire alarms which was quickly followed by the DJ putting on “Burning Down the House” — but the venue and the band recovered quickly.  Augmented by saxophonist Danny Meyer (who has also played with Julia Holter) and Starchild on guitar, Chairlift stuck mainly to Moth tracks but played a few old ones as well. The crowd was into it and singer Caroline Polacheck noted how nice and unusual it was to see NYC audiences dancing.

Prince Language, who DJ’d the release show for Chairlift’s debut album, was on decks for this one as well, priming the crowd before they went on. Chairlift will be back in Williamsburg, just a couple doors down from National Sawdust, playing Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 10, which is the last date on their upcoming tour. Tickets for MHOW are currently on AmEx presale and go on sale to the general public starting Friday (1/29) at noon.
