Cheap Trick paid tribute to AC/DC’s Malcolm Young at Capitol Theatre (pics, video, setlist)

Rock and powerpop legends Cheap Trick brought their current tour to Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre on Saturday (11/18) with Jesse Malin and Jacknife Stiletto also on the bill. In addition to their own big hits like “Dream Police,” “Surrender,” and “I Want You To Want Me,” they paid tribute to their friend, AC/DC’s Malcolm Young who died the day before, by encoring with a cover of “Highway to Hell.” You can watch video of that and check out Cheap Trick’s Capitol Theatre setlist, below, and pictures from the show are in the gallery above.

Meanwhile, Ultimate Classic Rock talked with former Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos about AC/DC, who they used to tour with, and Malcolm in particular:

There was a common bond. We were coming up in the same group of bands, we both had a band with a wild guitar player and a cool singer and a solid rhythm section, so we did have a lot in common. We both had a few albums out and neither one of us had a massive hit at that time.

In other news, Cheap Trick recently released their first-ever Christmas album, titled Christmas Christmas, which includes a few originals alongside yuletide classics by Wizzard, Slade, Chuck Berry, The Ramones, The Kinks, Harry Nilsson and more. You can listen to that below.
