CSS, Princeton, and DAAN played Metro (pics & setlist)

I walked into Metro just as Belgium's DAAN got started. They opened with a recreation of a mummy being resurrected by two men donning SS uniforms. After the ritual they stripped out of multiple layers of clothing, and proceeded to grope and fondle each other on stage to pre-recorded beats. They did several well choreographed dance numbers, then welcomed Princeton.

The Los Angeles indie pop group made the women in the audience swoon, shouting about how attractive they were. Twins; Jesse and Matt Kivel led the group with strong vocals, and a good sense of humor. Upon asking the audience how they were feeling, they cheered "Whoo!" Matt retorted with "You guys are feeling 'Whoo-ey' huh? Guess we better fix that!" They had a strong set that sufficiently calmed the "whoo-eyness" of the audience. The end of their 45 minute set that built to an almost dream rock drone.

Headlining was CSS, an acronym for the Portuguese phrase 'Cansei De Ser Sexy' and translates into "got tired of being sexy." When they took the stage the crowd erupted. Opening with the fast paced track "Art Bitch," CSS quickly got the audience moving.

Singer; Luísa Hanae Matsushita, known by her stage name as Lovefoxx, had a few surprises planned for their final show of their spring tour. The first was a birthday surprise for bassist Adriano Cintra. After their second song, "Off The Hook," the band and several audience members in the front row all donned paper masks of Adriano's face while singing him happy birthday.

Lovefoxx kept the pace of the show very upbeat, running around the stage, shedding clothes left and right. After three outfit changes, she jumped over the barrier into the crowd, who gladly supported her as she surfed over the sea of people. Not a body on the main floor stood still for the entire set.

When it came time for the encore, Lovefoxx came out wearing an 80's era pink dress, and after playing "Let's Make Love and Listen To Death From Above," listed simply as "Let's Fuck" on the set list, she asked the audience "Do you want some candy?" She then threw a giant dinosaur piñata into the crowd along with the dress. At the end of their set, they gave a group bow and thanked everyone for a great show.
