Divine Fits, a newish "supergroup" featuring Britt Daniel (Spoon), Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade/Handsome Furs), Sam Brown (New Bomb Turks), and auxiliary member Alex Fischel, are set to play their first-ever live shows this August. As mentioned on bvAustin, they'll make their live debut at Beerland in Austin, TX (the hometown of Britt Daniel) on August 1. A brand new date has just been announced, and it's a Lollapalooza aftershow at Schubas on August 5 with support from Bare Mutants. Tickets go on sale TODAY at 10AM CST (good luck).

Divine Fits' debut LP, A Thing Called Divine Fits, is set to hit stores on August 28 via Merge Records. You can stream two tracks from that album ("My Love Is Real" and "Would That Not Be Nice") at the bottom of this post.

It's days like this that I'm thankful for BV-Chicago... I knew these guys were playing a few shows, but Chicago wasn't listed as one of them. I made my daily internet rounds at about 11, saw this and was able to get a ticket (sold out now). I've got that Saturday with the Afghan Whigs at Metro and that Sunday with Divine Fits at Schubas. Holy moly!

So thank you BV-Chicago, for doing what you do.
