Califone @ IL Centennial Monument in 2011 (more by Grant MacAllister)
califone_ILCM_11

As we covered in our interview with Califone leader Tim Rutili late last year, the group are hard at work on the follow-up to 2009's All My Friends Are Funeral Singers. Rutili had also mentioned that they were looking forward to trying out their new material on the road sometime this year. We now know that they'll be embarking on a North American "living room" tour from April - June. That tour includes a tentative stop in Chicago on May 17, but they need your help to make that a reality. If you've got the room, consider hosting the great Califone. They've got some criteria listed HERE.

In related news, Califone members Jim Becker and Joe Adamik will be taking part in a what-looks-to-be-excellent show at the Hideout on March 16. They'll be performing as a duo, Darin Gray (On Fillmore, Jim O'Rourke, Gastr Del Sol) will open the show, and the night also includes an improvised set with those three and Glenn Kotche (Wilco, On Fillmore). Advance tickets for the Chicago show are on sale now.
