APTBS will be touring in support of their recent EP: Onwards To The Wall, across North America starting on March 7. That tour, most of which is with the Joy Formidable, hits the Empty Bottle with the Big Sleep on March 21st. Tickets are still available for the Chicago show. All tour dates, Metallica's new festival in NJ included, are listed below.
I sat down with the band's front man Oliver Ackermann to discuss, among other things, dinosaurs and robots. Our BVChicago exclusive interview starts here...
Rachel: Is it okay if I call you Ollie?
Ollie: You can call me Tony if you want
Did you always want to play music?
Tony: No I wanted to be a painter industrial design; as a band we build our own instruments.
Brooklyn-based band The Big Sleep released their third studio album, Nature Experiments, earlier this week via Frenchkiss Records. Check out two of the LP's tracks "Ace" and "Valentine" at BrooklynVegan, where they are both available for stream and/or download. Nature Experiments' cover art is above and you can find its tracklisting and a video for "Ace," below.
The band have just kicked off a string of North American dates last night (2/1), in New Haven, CT and a few of them on this trek will see the Brooklynites supporting a very impressive collection of bands (Archers of Loaf, Gauntlet Hair, Cloud Nothings, and more). One of those supporting dates happens to be A Place To Bury Strangers' March 21st show at the Empty Bottle. As mentioned, Chicago's great Apteka are also on the bill. Tickets are still available, though they may not be for much longer.

Swedish technical metal band Meshuggah are set to release their seventh studio album Koloss this March via Nuclear Blast. Livenation and Citi Cardmember presales begin tomorrow (2/2), at 10AM CST. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (2/3), at 10AM CST.
As mentioned by BBG, Baroness are at work on a new album, due to hit stores later this year via Relapse Records. In other Baroness news, drummer Allen Blickle guested on A Place To Bury Strangers' forthcoming EP Onwards To The Wall, handling the skin bashing duties on "I Lost You" and "Drill It Up." As mentioned, A Place To Bury Strangers are heading out on tour this spring as main support for The Joy Formidable. The tour won't hit Chicago, but sandwiched in between the Madison, WI and Bloomington, IN stops, A Place To Bury Strangers have just added their own headlining show at the Empty Bottle on March 21st. Support will come from locals Apteka. Tickets for the Chicago show go on sale tomorrow (1/21), at 11AM CST.
The band's Onwards to the Wall EP is due for a February 7th release via Dead Oceans. Download the EP's first single "So Far Away" at the top of this post. I was able to catch APTBS' blistering performance at our CMJ day party at Public Assembly (as pictured above) and it's definitely not something you want to miss seeing.
