Boris @ Austin Psych Fest 2013 (more by Tim Griffin)
Japanese experimental metal outfit Boris have announced that they'll be releasing their new album, Noise, on June 17 via Sargent House. You can get a feel for the LP by checking out its pummeling, seven-minute lead single "Quicksilver" at the bottom of this post. The band will also be embarking on a summer North American tour in late-July. That tour includes a performance at the Bottom Lounge on August 10. Tickets for the Chicago show go on sale this Friday (4/11) at noon CST.

Odonis Odonis -- Hard Boiled Soft Boiled cover art
Toronto noisemakers Odonis Odonis are gearing up for the release of their second album, Hard Boiled Soft Boiled, which is due out on April 15 via Buzz Records. So far, they've shared a number of album cuts -- "New Obsession," "Are We Friends," and "Angus Mountain" -- and yet another has arrived today. It's a real mind-melter called "Order In The Court" and director Lee Stringle has placed the song among animated versions of Hieronymus Bosch paintings. Odonis Odonis will be embarking on a brief North American tour in support of their new LP in April. That tour includes a performance at the Bottom Lounge's Upstairs Room on April 25. Tickets for the Chicago show are on sale now.

Slint's extremely thorough Spiderland box set is due to hit stores on April 15 via Touch and Go Records. One of its many components is Breadcrumb Trail, a never-before-seen, 90-minute documentary on the band and the making of Spiderland. It features extensive interviews with Slint, Steve Albini, Ian Mackaye, David Grubbs, David Yow, James Murphy, and more. You can check out a trailer for it at the bottom of this post. The film will be screening at the Music Box Theatre on April 16 and a Q&A with director Lance Bangs will follow it. Tickets are on sale now.

Yamantaka // Sonic Titan @ BV-CMJ 2013 (more by Chris La Putt)
Canadian experimental rock and performance art collective Yamantaka // Sonic Titan just finished up a run at SXSW and are slated to hit the road throughout North America again next month. This tour surrounds their appearance at the 2014 Austin Psych Fest, and they'll be teaming up with Perfect Pussy on most dates. The pair won't be sharing a bill in Chicago though (PP play their own show at Township on April 1), where Y // ST will headline the Bottom Lounge's Upstairs Room on May 9. Tickets are on sale now.

Slint have been inactive for a handful of years now, but after playing ATP UK in 2013 and with a Spiderland box set coming down the pike, they're back to playing North American dates. Their just-announced tour will bring them to Chicago for a performance at the Bottom Lounge on May 10. Tickets go on sale this Friday (3/21) at noon CST. They're also playing the Forecastle Festival in their hometown of Louisville, KY.

Philly punks The Menzingers' fourth album, Rented World, is slated to hit stores on April 22 via new label Epitaph. They've already revealed its great lead single "In Remission," and have now announced a spring/summer North American tour in support of the LP. That tour kicks off in late-May and includes a performance at the Bottom Lounge on June 6 with opener(s) TBA. Tickets for the Chicago show go on sale this Friday (3/14) at noon CST.

Hardcore punk supergroup OFF! are slated to return with a new album, titled Wasted Years, which is due to hit stores on April 8 via Vice. Keith Morris and co. just recently shared a video for the LP's lead single "Void You Out," and you can check it out at the bottom of this post. OFF! have also announced a spring North American tour in support of their new album, with Cerebral Ballzy and NASA Space Universe. Look for the three acts to tag the Bottom Lounge on May 8. Tickets for the Chicago show go on sale this Saturday (2/15) at noon CST.

Tickets to see The National and Daughter at The Chicago Theatre go on sale this Friday at 10AM. JAM Productions and venue presales will be active from 10AM to 10PM today (1/23); the passwords are trouble and NATIONAL, respectively.
Last year, UK psychedelic outfit Loop reformed for ATP UK and stated that their reunion would continue in 2014. You already know that they'll be playing Austin Psych Fest in May and an intimate NYC show beforehand. The band have since revealed more North American dates surrounding their APF appearance, including a performance at Bottom Lounge on April 27. Tickets for the Chicago show are on sale now. The reunion is "not going to be around long," insists frontman Robert Hampson. "...I refuse to prolong it and for it to become embarrassing. It'll be sharp and to the point...straight to your heart and then, it's gone," he continued. Grab your tickets.

Oozing Wound, Magic Milk, Jimmy Whispers, and DJ Mike Lust will kick out the jams at the Empty Bottle. Advance tickets are still available and you could even return the following night for Everyone's Hungover, which is just like "Everyone's A DJ, but with multiple playlists from multiple humans and the company of all your buddies/plas/comrades/frenemies from all over this weird little community."
Speaking of veteran Chicago punks, The Lawrence Arms play Concord Music Hall with Masked Intruder, Downtown Struts, and Direct Hit! (tickets). TLA are gearing up for the release of their first full-length album in eight-years, titled Metropole, which is due out on January 28 via Epitaph. You can take a listen to the LP's lead single "You Are Here" at the bottom of this post.
And don't be an idiot--take the CTA (or a cab) out/home instead of driving drunk. CTA Penny Rides begin at 10PM on New Year's Eve and last until 4AM.

Here's a post-hardcore match made in heaven. Touché Amoré and mewithoutYou will be teaming up for a co-headlining North American jaunt from February to March. T.A. welcomed their excellent third album, Is Survived By, earlier this year via Deathwish. The LP was produced by Brad Wood, who also handled production on mewithoutYou's great Catch For Us the Foxes and Brother, Sister. Seahaven will open all dates on the tour and Caravels will be along for the ride for the Chicago stop, which is slated for February 22 at Bottom Lounge. Tickets go on sale today (12/13) at noon CST.

The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die
Into It. Over It. (aka the project of Chicago's Evan Weiss) will be heading out on a winter U.S. tour in late-January. The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die and A Great Big Pile of Leaves have now been revealed as support for that tour, which is slated to commence with a performance at Bottom Lounge on March 1. Tickets for the Chicago show are still available.
As discussed, Weiss' other band Their / They're / There are gearing up to welcome their second EP, Analog Weekend, on December 10 via Polyvinyl // Topshelf. They'll play a record release show at Schubas on December 15 with Mansions (tickets).

Knapsack at Bottom Lounge on 11.15.2013
On Friday night (11/15), emo vets Knapsack came through Chicago on their short reunion tour for a performance at Bottom Lounge. Blair Shehan and co.'s headlining set consisted of cuts from each of their three full-length albums, including "Katherine The Grateful," "Cellophane," and "Thursday Side Of The Street." Excellent support came from Maritime and All Eyes West, and pictures from the show are in this post.

Coliseum @ Acheron in August (more by Fred Pessaro)
Coliseum, who just recently wrapped a September North American tour, are slated to embark on a U.S. run next month in continued support of this year's Sister Faith. Many of their dates are with Chicago's own Pelican, but they've also got a headlining show of their own in the Windy City. Look for the trio to tag Bottom Lounge on October 3 with opening sets from great locals The Swan King and Arbogast. Advance tickets are on sale now.

All Eyes West at the Threadless Warehouse on 8.27.2013
Once in a while, Threadless invite bands to play their West Loop warehouse. These shows are generally live sessions and/or for employees only, but you may have visited the warehouse for their annual Pitchfork Fest pre-party. Chicago punks All Eyes West played the Threadless warehouse earlier this week, and we've got pictures in this post.
AEW were just recently able to fund the production of their second album via a Kickstarter campaign. They'll be heading to J. Robbins' Magpie Cage Recording Studio with the man himself next month to track the LP. Stay tuned for more information.
All Eyes West just wrapped a short East Coast tour, and they'll also be playing a couple of hometown shows this fall. First, they'll play Reggie's on October 5 with Braid, Break Anchor, and Suns (tickets). They've also been added as support for Knapsack's November 15 show at Bottom Lounge (tickets).

Locrian have announced a couple of U.S. tour dates surrounding their appearance at Kentucky's Boomslang Festival. One of those dates is a rare hometown show at Bottom Lounge's upstairs room on September 22. Tickets go on sale this Friday (8/23) at noon CST.

Southwestern psychedelic punk collective Destruction Unit welcomed their great new album, Deep Trip, earlier this week via Sacred Bones. The eight-track LP is equal parts spacey and crushing, and you can take a listen to a few songs from it at the bottom of this post.

Boston trio Krill self-released their great new album, Lucky Leaves, earlier this year. The outfit craft scorching indie rock in the vein of Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, and Frog Eyes, and you can take a listen to the LP at the bottom of this post. Additionally, they've got a new video for the album cut "Theme From Krill" which can also be found below.
Krill have a handful of East Coast shows scheduled for this month and then will be embarking on a full North American tour in September. That tour includes a pair of Chicago shows: an appearance at Humboldt Park DIY spot Big Forever's Big Forever Fest on September 21 and a show at Bottom Lounge on September 22 with Alex Calder and Steve JR. Additional information on the DIY festival is forthcoming. Advance tickets for that Bottom Lounge show, which they open, are still available.

Hello everyone! We're enjoying a few months of vacation after our final For My Parents tour performances in China & Mongolia. We've been working on new music and will go to the US to record the first half of our next album in November. Along with that, we're excited to announce that we'll be doing nine shows in the Northeastern US & Eastern Canada in late November. We hope that if you're in the area, you can make it to one of these shows: We may very well be offering a preview of some new songs.
