Charli XCX @ Santos Party House in March (BV-Presents) (more by Chris La Putt)

Buzzy London dance-pop artist Charli XCX has been tapped by Coldplay to open up a few shows on their summer North American tour, including both Chicago dates at the United Center (8/7 & 8/8) which also feature support from Marina & The Diamonds and Emeli Sandé. Tickets for both nights are still available. (Making your Chicago debut at the United Center... not too shabby, eh?)

Towards the end of May, Charli hits the road with Santigold (who will eventually reach Chicago for Lollapalooza) to act as main support on a handful of her NA/CAN dates.

Coldplay @ All Points West in 2009 (more by Tim Griffin)

Coldplay, whose new album Mylo Xyloto made Jim DeRogatis' 'biggest turkeys of 2011' list, have announced a 2012 world tour which brings them to the United Center on August 7th.

Even given the desire to blandly appeal to as many people as possible while never, ever offending anyone, it's possible to go so far that you achieve the exact opposite result, or the artistic equivalent of bad rice pudding.

Ouch.

Tickets go on AmEx presale this coming Monday (12/12), at 10AM CST. They'll be on sale to the general public next Saturday (12/17), at 10AM CST.
