DOWNLOAD: Islands - "This Is Not A Song" (MP3)

Islands are set to release their new LP, A Sleep & A Forgetting, on February 14th via Anti- Records. Download the album's lead single, "This Is Not A Song," at the top of this post and check out a video for it below.

The new album offers all the shimmering sonic textures and irresistible melodies that have come to define Islands enduring appeal, but there is a deeply personal cathartic undercurrent to the songs. "The sound is really my interpretation of soul music," [frontman Nick] Thorburn offers. "I mean, I'm a white kid from Canada so it's gonna be very warped. But that's where my head was at, that particular way of dealing with themes of pain and heartbreak." [Anti-]

The band, which now features Luc Laurent of the defunct Pepper Rabbit on drums, played a lone CMJ show where they debuted new material and a second NYC date in late-October. In support of A Sleep & A Forgetting, they'll visit Chicago on March 1st to headline Lincoln Hall. Tickets go on sale this Friday (1/13), at noon CST.

Speaking of freshly announced March shows at Lincoln Hall, Fanfarlo will play the venue on the 28th of the month.
