Coffinworm @ Power of the Riff East (more by Greg Cristman)
Coffinworm

Coffinworm was formed under watchful eye of Choronzon in late 2007. The 'Great Bringer of Night' demo was recorded by Bob Fouts (Basement Rage Studios) in late 2008/early 2009 and led to an alliance with Profound Lore Records shortly afterwards. The 'When All Became None' full-length was recorded by Sanford Parker in December of 2009 within Semaphore Studios, Chicago, and released in April 2010. Summer 2010 saw a lineup change with J. joining the fold on drums and C. moving from behind the kit to guitar." - their bio
Coffinworm is an Indianapolis metal band with many ties to Chicago, including producer Sanford Parker who recently told us his Two 10 Albums of 2012. Here are Carl of Coffinworm's favorite albums and shows, Swans at Metro and Autopsy at Reggie's included. Check out his full 2012 list, below...

Heavy metal and foodie haven Kuma's Corner are set to open a second Chicago location in Lincoln Park. While the Woodfield Mall and/or Naperville joint is still rumored, Kuma's Too will be setting up shop at 666 W. Diversey Pkwy. within the next few months(!). According to Chicago Magazine, the new restaurant will be replacing current tenants The Counter. Hopefully, like the original location, the menu will feature items named after YOB, Neurosis, Weekend Nachos, High On Fire, and more.

Stay tuned for more information on Kuma's Too.

High on Fire

As we reported on BV, all the best to Matt Pike of High on Fire who starts on the road toward sobriety. The also-Sleep-er (who recently played Scion Rock Fest) will sit out their upcoming slot on the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival Tour, that will include their stop at First Midwest Bank Amphitheater on July 21. Major bummer, but can't wait for him to come back stronger than ever.
